New or Used, When Is the Best Time to Buy a Honda?

Across the automotive industry, prices have been rising due to a number of factors, from the recent semiconductor shortage to inflation.

At Neil Huffman Honda in Frankfort, this has left a number of our customers wondering when is the best time to buy or trade-in for a new or used Honda.

Luckily, There is a certain seasonality to the automobile industry that customers can capitalize on in order to enjoy big savings.

The Best Time to Buy a Used Honda

The best time to buy a used car depends on when the new cars come in.

The good news is that you can predict this.

New cars typically come in at the end and beginning of years. So, December, January, and February are typically the best months to buy a used car.

Why?

Because new cars are coming into the lot. Since there is only so much space for vehicles on any given dealership’s lot, you can expect there to be markdowns on the used vehicles that are taking up space that the new cars are meant to fill.

That being said, it all depends on what kind of used vehicle you are looking for.

If you are looking something older, cheap, and with some miles on it, then certainly look for those early-year markdowns.

However, if you wait for the summer, you can get great deals on more recent models Hondas, which may have been bought in the new-car wave and returned within a number of months.

With a little patience, you can get a great deal on a used Honda that is pretty much good as new.

The Best Time to Buy a New Honda

To get more specific than seasons, we would offer you the advice of coming in during times where there may not be a whole lot of shoppers, such as a Monday afternoon (when most buyers are likely to be at work.)

Another reason for early-week shopping is that many buyers come in over the weekend, and so the sales team will likely be more willing to give you a deal after a weekend of good sales.

Coming in at the end of the month can also be a good way to get a deal on a Honda, as this is when most dealerships are looking to fill sales quotas.

You should also keep in mind that most dealerships set up deals for holidays such as Presidents Day and Labor Day, which can lead to big savings on new vehicles.

If you have been wanting to buy a certain kind of car, based on make or model, then you should do some Googling—if press, such as reviews, has been released for an updated model of a car, then you can take that as a sign that the car is going to be on the lots soon. This is an especially useful tactic if you have your eyes set on a vehicle that is expected to sell well—sometimes, it is wiser to get your hands on the vehicle as soon as possible, rather than waiting for a day where you may get a markdown.

2024 Honda Prologue

Here at Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort, we need to stay up to speed on the many different developments across the variety of automakers whose vehicles we offer our customers. At just about every one of our many dealerships, we sell electric vehicles (EV), and will only be selling more in the years to come.

Take it from us, pretty much every automaker is playing a role in the electric vehicle boom that we are seeing, but Honda has set itself apart from the crowd with a bold promise to offer a 100% zero-emission lineup in the United States by the year 2040.

Though the phrase “the year 2040” makes many of us think of the future, it is indeed only a mere 18 years from now. If you have any young children, there is a chance that their first car may be an all-electric vehicle. This will certainly be the case if they will be driving a Honda.

Honda is starting this march towards zero-emissions in the U.S. with a fully electric vehicle called the Prologue. The 2024 Honda Prologue will be the first step towards a fully-electric Honda lineup, which you can be certain will be offered by Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort in 2040 and beyond.

Recently, Honda updated the 2024 Honda Prologue page with a detailed illustration of the 2024 Honda Prologue, which will likely be available by fall 2023. This illustration is featured below, along with what this image suggests about the 2024 Honda Prologue.

Honda Offers a Preview

Many promises are made in this image that we have reason to believe Honda will keep.

Before even considering the vehicle, by looking at its surroundings, we can see that it is achieving a fairly high speed, as the world is more or less rushing past the 2024 Honda Prologue, or, more accurately, the 2024 Honda Prologue is rushing through the world. What Honda is telling us here is that this is an EV that will be able to compete with other fuel SUVs.

Additionally, we see that this SUV is not just fit for city-dwelling, but can handle going off-road as well, demonstrating that the 2024 Honda Prologue will be a vehicle with a lot of appeal for drivers with a taste for adventure. With the apparently roomy interior in this illustration, there will certainly be enough room for storing cargo on an outdoors excursion

Now, onto the vehicle itself. A sleek SUV, this will be a sizable vehicle that somehow manages to not be bulky or unwieldy, allowing for a smooth and controlled driving experience within a safe SUV.

The large wheels are adorned with presumably tough rubber, fit for all kinds of terrain. Stylish but effective lighting are also a major feature: look at the outward projection of the light from the slim headlights, no doubt made even more effective by the fog lights.

If Honda is planning on making this vehicle more family-oriented, which it certainly already is with the size, then perhaps the headlights will be larger, even if just for the sake of providing more visually immediate proof that the lights are powerful.

The 2024 Honda Prologue at Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort

Though we still have little more than an illustration to go off of, you can be sure that the 2024 Honda Prologue will deliver on the promise it suggests in the picture above. If you are interested in buying this historic EV, which we believe will be available in late 2023, then be sure to reach out to us at Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort., as we will get you the best price on this vehicle.

Scheduled for release in Q4 2022, devoted Honda enthusiasts everywhere will have their eye on this reimagined compact SUV

The approaching release of the 2023 Honda CR-V is expected to bring a welcome and exciting refresh of the car maker’s venerable CR-V compact SUV. Though an official reveal has not yet happened, Honda devotees in central Kentucky are sure to love Honda’s newest take on its most popular model in the United States. Based on what we know so far, the 2023 Honda CR-V has evolved in design to a sleeker, sportier, more sophisticated version of itself.

If you’re a dedicated Honda driver (and so many of us are!), or you’re ready to upgrade your current compact SUV this year, look to Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort. We think you’ll enjoy the more modern approach to this top player in the compact SUV market.

CR-V retains title for best-selling Honda model

Honda first brought its CR-V model to market in 1997. Since that time, the compact SUV has seen a total of three body styles (not including the new 2023 release), while the Honda CR-V’s current body style is in its fifth model year. It continues to be Honda’s most popular model on the market today, as well as top in its class. In 2021, Honda sold 361,271 CR-Vs in the United States. Despite the worldwide decrease in semiconductor chip availability, this is an 8.3 percent increase over 2020 U.S. sales. It seems the Honda CR-V will be an evergreen staple for years to come.

Honda’s new brand philosophy is “simple and something”, and from what we know, that appears to be translating well in this newest 2023 CR-V. The interior is being redesigned with a simplified, clean look, while we expect it will still feature a nice range of occupant amenities.

Leaked images online prove road testing for the 2023 Honda CR-V is in full swing ahead of its release later this year. Prototype imagery has made its way online, as well. That said, these exciting images indicate a longer and slightly wider body for the incoming model. Various speculative renderings and photos indicate a more masculine, sporty, and contemporary exterior (compared to the current body style). Of the more striking aesthetic features at the front of the vehicle are slimmed headlights with a sharper, less round appearance, along with a higher grill design featuring what look like performance-influenced, larger air openings. To be sure, this stands to be a fresh take on the ever-reliable Honda CR-V!

Will the 2023 Honda CR-V feature a third passenger row?

While this compact SUV has always featured two passenger seating rows, there is information that points to the real possibility of a third-row optional version in some automotive markets. We’ll have to be patient to confirm what Honda has in-store for us, but in the meantime, our excitement is building!

Love Hondas? Neil Huffman in Frankfort, Kentucky has what you want!

If you are in the market for a compact SUV – you can’t go wrong with the tried-and-true Honda CR-V. It will be worth your wait for the official unveiling of the 2023 Honda CR-V later this year.

Come see us at Neil Huffman Honda in Frankfort. Our sales and leasing experts are ready to help you find the vehicle that works best for your lifestyle and budget. You’ll want to be one of the first in Kentucky to test drive the 2023 Honda CR-V when it arrives in our showroom. EVs on TVs

Anyone who watched last month’s Super Bowl will probably remember a common theme across the ads, which is that most of the car commercials were for electric, rather than fuel, cars.

According to this New York Times article, most major automakers are investing a lot of money in electric vehicles, while fuel cars, and industries dependent on their production, are seeing a decline because of this development.

Though it may take some time, automakers will be putting in more and more effort into making electric vehicles, or EVs, a major source of revenue.

It is pretty safe to say that electric cars will not be a fad, but will actually become a viable transportation option for many people in the future, so it is probably appropriate that Honda is naming their new electric SUV the Prologue.

Honda’s Next Step

Many of the electric car efforts in modern times are the result of partnerships between automobile manufacturing giants. For example, Mazda partnered with Toyota to establish a manufacturing plant in Huntsville, Alabama, where the first fruit of that loom is an electric car by the name of the Mazda CX-50.

Honda has partnered with General Motors, or GM, to develop the 2024 Prologue.

A mid-sized SUV that is likely to have a high-quality 100-kWh battery, with which you can expect to get about 300 miles per charge. 300 miles per charge should be ample distance given that the United States government has been investing in charging stations nationwide through a $5 billion plan to help states build EV charging stations.

A big draw of electric vehicles is that they are environmentally friendly compared to the fuel car alternative, and the Prologue is no exception, boasting a zero-emissions drive. This makes it the prologue to Honda’s plan to have a completely zero-emissions lineup of cars by 2040, as stated on the page for the Prologue. Like it or not, EVs are here to stay.

When to Expect the Prologue

As of now, you can probably expect to learn more about the specifics about the prologue, such as the specific under-the-hood details, sometime in late 2023.

Slated for a 2024 release, you can be assured that Honda is working carefully to create an EV that will stack up to the high-performing EVs on the market right now, which includes the ever-popular Tesla.

Winterize your honda

While the official start of winter may not happen until December 21, it’s already starting to feel like it here in central Kentucky! As we head into the start of the holiday season, many of us are anticipating and planning for celebrations and seasonal activities. It’s also important to make plans to prepare your car for the harsh realities of winter temperatures and precipitation.

The dedicated service team at Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort wants to remind you of the importance of taking steps to winterize your vehicle before we experience the harshest conditions of the season. Because here in Frankfort and throughout central Kentucky, you never know when that will happen!

The sooner the better!

First things first – take a look at your calendar right away and call Neil Huffman Honda in Frankfort, Kentucky at 502-385-2130. Or, you may reach our service department online. This can be a busy time of year for automotive service departments, and you’ll want to reserve a spot to winterize your Honda ASAP. Winter’s coming fast – and now’s the time to make sure your vehicle is reliable, road-ready, and prepared to endure the elements of winter. You’ll want to get ahead of it before temperatures remain low for several months at a time.

Check your tires

While snow tires aren’t typically a common choice of motorists in this region, you do need to pay extra attention to the condition of your tires in winter. When cold weather does settle in, tires with some age and significant wear may be more brittle and therefore less responsive to snowy or slick road conditions. Any beginning of dry rot, cracking, or low tread should be addressed immediately. Good tire condition is a vital part of road safety along with protecting yourself, your passengers, and other motorists.

Test your battery

If your car battery is coming up on about three years old, it may be time for a new one in advance of the season’s coldest temperatures. That’s because cold temperatures place a heavier demand on automotive batteries, which means more power is required of them to start when weather is frigid. So if you notice your Volkswagen has been hesitating to start in milder temperatures, you’ll definitely want to bring in your vehicle to have a battery load test completed. It is also important to check all connections and for any possible corrosion. Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort’s service department can take care of this, along with a host of other pre-winter vehicle checks.

Fresh motor oil

While regular oil changes are important any time of the year, this is especially critical during cold winter months. Motor oil can become especially thick and “sludgy” in cold temperatures, making it difficult to lubricate your Honda’s engine components properly. This could mean your engine won’t operate smoothly, or worse, costly damage could occur. Beyond keeping up with oil changes, you might also consider asking for a motor oil weight designed for colder temperatures. If it’s been longer than the recommended 3,000-to-5,000 mile oil change interval, and cold weather is creeping in, it’s time to call the Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort service department for an appointment!

Check windshield wipers

You do not want to get caught with brittle, torn windshield wiper blades when the first snowfall (or ice!) hits. We’ve all been there, and it’s not fun – or safe. Fresh wipers mean you won’t struggle unexpectedly when snow, ice, and salt coat your windshield. Equally important, be sure to check your windshield wiper reservoir regularly during winter to be sure it has enough fluid.

Antifreeze and other critical fluids

A very important part of winterizing your Honda is checking antifreeze and other fluid levels. Antifreeze helps ensure the fluids designed to cool your engine do not freeze. Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort service technicians will check all fluid levels to be sure they’re fresh, or topped-off. You generally want to replace antifreeze every two years.

Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort has you covered!

Don’t take chances this winter – have your vehicle serviced soon and take care of any important repairs and maintenance needs before harsh temperatures settle-in. When your vehicle is in good shape and you feel safe on the road, you can face winter roads with confidence and enjoy the ride! The Neil Huffman Honda of Frankfort service department is standing by, ready to help.
